Instructors Mike and Di Morgan first started doing summer art camp in 1991 at the Morgan Arts Centre in Toledo, Wash.
Art camp activities have changed with the times and today we offer two opportunities for children ages 6 -16 to explore and express their creativity. (We also accept folks of all ages if they are willing to work along side the younger kids.) Assistant art instructors Jake Morgan and Linda Eitel provide extra help.
The Blue Period
The Rose Period
The first week of Camp Picasso is designed for students who want to explore three-dimensional art forms. After learning about the life and art of Pablo Picasso, we work with clay projects, including hand building, slip casting and throwing on potters wheels. Students also design and build craft items for their homes, create abstract sculptures and build 3-D architectural models.
Activities include making pottery, crafts, sculpture, architecture and more. $80 per student (family rates are available) includes a Camp Picasso T-shirt, light snacks and all materials. Children (6 years and older) should dress in clothes ready to “Do Art”.
The second week of Camp Picasso is designed for students who want to learn about and explore two-dimensional art forms. We learn more about the life and art of Pablo Picasso and take daily drawing lessons that teach the fundamentals of perspective and figure drawing.
Other activities include the Art Safari, painting, poster making, tie dying and more. $80 per student (family rates are available) includes a Camp Picasso T-shirt, light snacks and all materials. Children (6 years and older) should dress in clothes ready to “Do Art”.
During both sessions, students learn about the life of the great cubist artist Pablo Picasso and the work he did during his “Blue” and “Rose” periods. Many students attend both weeks of Camp Picasso and some students have so much fun they come back every summer.
Both weeks of Camp Picasso include a T-shirt, light snack and all art materials. Cost is $80 per child per week, with family rates available. Classes can fill up quickly so we recommend signing up early by contacting Di at firstname.lastname@example.org or (360) 864-4ART.
