Plomondon  Independent  Film  Festival 
Morgan Arts Centre, Toledo               February   6  &  7,   2009

In Anticipation of the Plomondon Independent Film Festival for 2009:

PREREQUISITES: 
•  The PIFF is open to all independent video/film makers regardless of age.
•  The level of quality ranges from hand held “Funny Videos” to “Sundance”. 
•  Films must be formatted to play on a standard home DVD player.
•  Films can range from 30 seconds to approx. 30 minutes in length. 
•  Since films will be viewed by the general public, films should be rated as  
	G, PG, PG-13, R  for subject matter, language, violence, etc. 

THE PUBLIC SHOWING:
•  All films are tentatively scheduled to be shown on Friday, February 6 starting at 7 pm        
and on Saturday, February 7 at the 1 pm matinee.   Admission is $2 for adults; $1 for seniors, students, and children. 
•  We run a concession stand selling popcorn, candy, drinks, etc.
•  The attending public votes for the films they like the best.
•  Programs and Ballots will be distributed at both performances so that audience members may vote for their favorites in a variety of categories.
•  At the Saturday Awards Night, a “PIFFY” will be presented to the winning film makers in each category.  The winning films will be shown again with comments by the winners.
 
THE CATEGORIES:

   	HUMOR. tells a funny story.       
	DRAMA. tells a serious story with dialogue.
   	ANIMATION. any drawing, stop-action, computer, etc. w/ movement & action.
   	MYSTERY. a work dealing with a puzzling crime, strange issue, or unexpected ending. 
       THRILLER.  designed to put the audience on the edge of their seats
       HORROR.  usually involves buckets of blood and is rated “R”
   	ADVENTURE.  a story about a journey, ordeal, or quest.
     DOCUMENTARY. may be nature, human interest, investigation, historical, etc.
   	AVANT GARDE. inventive, creative, clever, new ideas, new techniques, “artsie”
       TRAILER.  a short preview of an upcoming feature film
       MUSIC VIDEO.  may be a live performance or in an MTV format
   	ADVERTISEMENT. a real or faux commercial product, self promotion, film trailer, etc.
   	POLITICAL. issues, commentary, campaign ad, investigation, satire, etc.
       EDUCATIONAL/INSTRUCTIONAL.  teaches a skill or lesson
	Also,   Best ACTOR.  for performance in any of the above film categories.
		    Best ACTRESS.  for performance in any of the above film categories.
		    Best PICTURE. for the best Independent Film at the PIFF.

TO ENTER:
•  There is a  $10 Entry fee for your first film and $5 for each additional film.  
•  Entry Forms are available by e-mailing us at morgnart@toledotel.com
•  To enter you must send your entry fee(s) and entry form to the Morgan Arts 
        Centre, P.O. Box 787, Toledo, WA 98591  by Monday, January 19, 2009.
•  For security, all DVDs should be mailed to P.O. Box 787, Toledo, WA 98591 
        or hand delivered to the Morgan Arts Centre, 190 Plomondon Road
     NO LATER THAN 3 PM ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2009.
•  The audience comments will be e-mailed to you about a week after the Event.
•  If you are unable to attend the Saturday Awards Night, your DVD will be returned to you the following week in your original package/envelope unless you instruct us otherwise

NOTES: 
•    We will send you a packet of invitations to give to your friends and family approximately 2 weeks before the Event.
•    The local newspapers usually contact us for more information about the film makers.  We tell them to directly contact you.  If you have an objection to this, let us know and we won’t give them your phone number.
•    If you have some promotional materials (posters, handbills, copies of your DVD, etc.) for your film or production company you may display them at our Event.  Also, you may wish to bring other experimental or incomplete films (not for public consumption) to be shared with fellow filmmakers for critique.  There is no fee charged for these items.
•    Finally, all film makers and their friends and families are invited to share in a good old fashioned potluck dinner at the Morgan Arts Centre on Saturday evening before the PIFFY Awards Night.  Bring a beverage and a favorite dish of your choosing.  We’ll provide the plates, plastic ware, cups, etc.
