The fourth annual high school student art show displaying 150 pieces of art by Toledo and Winlock High School students was held May 15 -16 at the Morgan Arts Centre.
More than 70 interested students and adults attended the show this year. Visitors were asked to vote for their favorite works. Here are the Peoples’ Choice for the “Best” in the ten categories:

Big Cheese Toast
On July 8, the ninth community social gathering to kick off Toledo’s Cheese Days community celebrations will again be held at the Morgan Arts Centre. Doors will open at 6PM.
The evening will start with the crowning of the 2010 Cheese Day Queen at 6:30. Then at 7, we will have the “Toast to the Big Cheeses” followed by a giveaway of fabulous door prizes. Throughout the evening you can enjoy cheeses from around the world and wines from the Pacific Northwest while listening to the smooth sounds of the Malcolm Clark Band from Port Orchard.
Tickets are $12.50 at the door.
Camp Picasso Summer Art Camp
For the 19th year, Mike and Di Morgan will run a summer art camp for kids, ages 6 and up.
We will start on Monday, July 12, with Picasso’s “Blue Period”. 3-D activities include pottery, crafts, sculptures, architecture and more. The next Monday, July 19, begins the “The Rose Period” with 2-D activities that include drawing, painting, paper making, poster making and more.
Both sessions run from 9 until noon, Monday thru Thursday. The cost is $80 per student per week. This price includes a “Camp Picasso” tee shirt, a light snack, and all art materials. Reduced rates for families are available. Phone Di at 864-4 ART for more information.
ARTrails is coming in September
On the weekends of Sept. 18 - 19 and 25 - 26, the Morgan Arts Centre will be the working studio for six artists of the ARTrails of Southwest Washington artist cooperative.
There will be 6 artists working and showing at the M.A.C.
From Toutle, JENNIFER CULLINGS will draw family pets. Toledo art teacher RON GAUL will paint with coffee and wine on canvas. JANE GERDON from Longview will be making felt hand-bags. Longview artist VICKI BRIGDEN will be creating jewelry. Morgan Arts Centre owner DI MORGAN will work on her fiber art sweaters and more. Her husband, MIKE MORGAN will be sculpturing.

Children’s Theater Workshop
2010 marks the tenth year of Children’s Theater at the Morgan Arts Centre. The all-day Workshop is set for the last week in July. It is designed for children (6 - 16) who are willing to perform in front of a live audience. They must be good readers with good memory recall and should be physically fit.
The kids will experience all aspects of the theater, including performance, production, and promotion.
Di and Mike Morgan employ professional adult directors to work with the kids in small teams. This year’s directors will again be Mrs. Jeanne Hamilton and Mr. Horst Malunat, renown director Mr. Jim Luque, and Shakespearean director Mrs. Leah Baker.
The Friday Night Show will begin at 7 PM and is free and open to the public.
The cost is $135 per student for the week. Enrollment is limited to 32 students. A $65 payment will reserve a spot. Early registration is highly recommended. If you are interested, phone Di at 864-4 ART.
Mind, Body, and Spirit Fair
On May 1, the MAC was host to “A Day of Healing Arts” presented by a group of local health care practi-tioners. Over 200 people attended. Presentations and free treatments were provided including message, meditation, reiji jin shin, aura reding, quantum touch, Ayurveda, myofascial release, drugless pain management, and animal care. It was most enlightening..
